Oyster Veneer Wood Box

Wonderful William & Mary 'Oyster' veneer table box.

Branches of olive wood or laburnum wood are sliced across the end of a small branch which produces an oval slice of veneer that looks like an oyster shell.

After these pieces are veneered in a symetrical pattern on the top of the box, then the top is incised with line inlay in spirals to produce the wonderful William & Mary veneering.

This box also has wonderful old paper advertisements inside.
