Superb tiger maple slant lid desk opening to an amphitheater interior of eight valanced compartments above a fan-carved central drawer flanked by concave, convex, and valanced drawers and two stepped shaped drawers, above a case of four thumbmolded graduated drawers. Deeply scrolled bracket base. Replaced brass.

Curly maple desks have to be considered "country" pieces (urban ususally mahogany or walnut) and most curly maple desks, even if they have a very good intereior, are somewhat plain.  While this desk has a fantastic interior
